Job description:
Under the functional responsibility of the scientific referents of the Ob7 "Observation at sea" pole, and the "Observation in port" pole, you will contribute to the consolidation and exploitation of data collected by the Observatory as part of its scientific monitoring programs of French tropical fisheries. You will also participate in the team's development activities to improve data quality and the associated processing procedures. Your first task will be to manage and enhance data flows from: observation programs (electronic and on-board observation); port collection (fishing logs, biological samples, size distribution). You will primarily be involved in data flows from on-board observation programs (EMS) and port collection. Your activities will include: Monitoring data collection: liaising with service providers in France and abroad, applying existing quality processes. Managing data flows from tropical seine and longline monitoring programs. Checking and consolidating data using existing or to-be-developed R scripts (connected to SQL databases). Processing and cross-referencing data (geo-referenced or not) using R scripts. Developing R tools and applications in line with best practices (versioning, documentation, testing). Documenting activities as part of a structured quality approach. Training and supporting service providers in data entry tools and best practices. Your future team You will be based in Sète as part of a dynamic team of 15 people.
You will have developed the following skills: Programming skills in the R language are required. R Shiny application development skills (preferred). Knowledge of data management and SQL language (preferred). Knowledge of fisheries (highly appreciated). Knowledge of the use of code versioning tools (git, gitlab, github). Monitoring and application of quality provisions and programming standards. Structure and write a technical document adapted to the various users. Experience as a fisheries observer (seine or longline) would be a plus. You have the following human qualities: Rigor. Good organizational skills. Good teamwork skills. Good oral and written communication skills. English level C1, oral and written expression and comprehension.
